Mind Games
*****

This is John's most melodic and beautiful album in my opinion. After all those political and somehow intense albums this feels like he truly just put out his sensitive side. After you take a listen to this one you cant imagine that a guy like him could write something like How Do You Sleep? Nothing way too complicated, just pure, simple brilliance.
Mind GamesObviously a simply brilliant song with great, inspiring lyrics. Could be a hippy anthem. I know, some would prefer to give "All You need is love" the title, but this is just so laid back, magical and beautiful. It really raises my spirit whenever I listen to this. Reminds me of last summer that I spent in the countryside listening to this song till sunset. I have never ever heard a musician who can write and perform a song in a way that can make you feel so darn great. I bet it was a great time, those sixties/seventies. Atleast the music makes you wanna experience it.
Tight AsHehe, Im not sure what he meant to say with this song. I'll guess it's just another easy listening rock & roller. I like it anyways.

Nice guitar part and catchy lyrics. I have to admit though, sometimes I skip this one.
Aisumasen (I'm Sorry)Oooh, this one I never, ever skip. A simple, yet unbelievably perfect song. John's voice would never fit in all the nowadays boy-band world, but you can really feel the emotions in this song unlike in all the stuff we hear from all those boring r&b/pop singers. I love the slow rock & rollish like mood in this and the guitar solo fits in perfect. The home version is a tough one to listen to at some bits - he's almost crying, his voice trembles... I still love both versions anyways.
One Day (At A Time)Well, I guess my vocabulary isn't rich enough to differently describe an album where 90% of the songs are equally melodic and great. I shall try though. What I wanted to say is, that there aren't alot of musicians who can write so many beautiful, well, love songs. While most of the guys singing these kind of songs may sound gay (cause "feelings are gay" ( :| )), he doesn't. Yoko was really happy to have a man like John. I mean, this is so sincere and beautiful, you just can't call it "gay". He's not all like "baby I'm gonna bring the stars to you blah blah blah". This is real.
Bring On The Lucie (Freda Peeple)I guess he can't kick the habit.

Even in an album like this he had to put in this song, BUT! This one incredibly fits in. The hawaian (did I spell it right?) guitar and the gospel-like backwocals incredibly lifts the song up and makes it sound really positive rather than really reproachful. I like how he changed the style abit in this. He's not imposing alot, he's just saying it like he's tired of saying about it all the time and now it's all up to us.
"We don't care what flag you're waving
We don't even want to know your name
We don't care where you're from or where you're going
All we know is that you came
You're making all our decisions
We have just one request of you
That while you're thinking things over
Here's something you just better do
Free the people now
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now
Free the people now
Do it, do it, do it, do it, do it now"
Like I said before, this is a really uplifting, uniting and an into-your-face song at the same time. Great protest song.
Nutopian National AnthemIt's blank to me.
IntuitionMy brain can't think of anything else about this song rather than another great sounding song with a beautiful melody and another meaning. You don't have to think alot about it, it's all said.
My intentions are good, I use my intuition
It takes me for a ride
But I never understood other people's superstitions
It seemed like suicide
As I play the game of life
I try to make it better each and every day
And when I struggle in the night
The magic of the music seems to light the way
Ah, Intuition takes me there
Intuition takes me everywhere
Well my instincts are fine
I had to learn to use them in order to survive
And time after time confirmed an old suspicion
It's good to be alive
And when I'm deep down and out and lose communication
With nothing left to say
It's then I realize it's only a condition
Of seeing things that way
Out The BlueOk, so there is more to tell about this song then just calling it beautiful and brilliant (like I always do xD). First of all the melody changes alot and every part of the song is really good. I love how the song builds up from the first verse into the second and then into the last verse. Alot of emotions and a nice piano solo. heh, lucky Yoko to have such a loving husband.
Only PeopleThis one used to be my favorite on the whole album. John's positivism would really be useful right now. I mean, great music and a powerful message copes together perfectly and works great aswell. Love the "Make no mistake it's our future we're making,
bake the cake and eat it too!
We don't want no pig brother scene" part. Again, the gospelish back vocals fit in perfectly here. Love the niggling piano part aswell, makes the song sound merrier. Great song, overall.
I Know (I Know)I think this, at the moment, is my favorite song in the whole album. I heard it's about Paul and I hope it is. This is a genuine song and beautiful lyrics that come from the heart. I absolutely dig how the melody kinda changes from
I know what I was missing
But now my eyes can see
I put myself in your place
As you did for me
to
Today I love you more than yesterday
Right now I love you more right now
I think that's what makes it for me. Not to mention the fact that it's about Paul. It really warms my heart. "No more crying, no more crying..." aww, John.

Love it, love it, love it!
You Are HereAnother goodun. Cant say anything special about it, though. Just shows how gullible and sensitive John really can be. Which is always good about a person. I always thought that whoever says "feelings are gay" is abnormally dumb. I kinda feel good about the fact John - a musical genius, an inspiration for thousands of people wasn't an insensible log. I mean, he could be rough and rude sometimes, but gosh, there is no one who could send shivers down my spine with a song like this except for John.
Meat CityHeh and I though this album is absolutely 100% rocker free. I fell in love with this song from the very first second. It's just superb! It's rough, it's rockish, it's genius - the full package! Just gotta give me some rock and roll - HELL YEAH!

There is something about it that makes it unique and gives it a certain appeal. But I cant put my finger on it. Maybe it's the rhythm? Or the lyrics? I have no idea, but I dig it.
